easy

there is nothing really special about this outfit other than it is easy.

i love these high waisted jeans.
no more muffin top.
legs look longer.
shirts are easy to tie in front.
you gotta get past the american apparel advertising though.
why is it so slutty?
my friends have determined that strippers have to shop somewhere.
despite all that, they are well made here in los angeles and very comfortable.

the best part about this outfit are my madden girl faux suede booties
from amazon.com

i love them so much that i wrote a review on them and i never do that.

i also have a couple of things for sale on ebay right now.
don't freak out but i'm selling my j.crew trench.
since i've upped my yoga practice big time, my arms, specifically my biceps have gotten bigger and the coat doesn't fit my arms anymore.
isn't that gross?  i really hate it but that's the way it is.

in addition to that i picked up a burberry trench at an epic estate sale.
that's a story for another day though.
my friend M was here from hawaii and she took a pic of it for me.
i bought it the 2nd day of the sale so it was half price.
i know.

ok so that's that.
i hope all is well with you guys.
thank you SO much for all your garden advice.
wow, so many great ideas.
i've been working non-stop out there and i'll post pictures by next week of my progress.
thanks again...you guys are the best!

  2. Love this! But honestly - we are dressed like twins today - I have my grey knit pants on with a white blouse tied at the waist and a little pair of ballet flats! YOu must be rubbing off on me from afar! Can't wait to hear the Burberry story!

  3. I clicked the link you provide to the trench coat, and it goes to a different item: a new black trench coat being sold in Texas, not your coat. Thought you should know.

  5. Love your take on "easy dressing" so simple yet so very chic and elegant.
    What a crazy bargain/estate sale...
You'll love wearing that new coat and think of the CPW formula, it will be pennies per wear.

  6. You will enjoy your taut arms when everyone else is sporting little-old-lady jiggly arms. I have to laugh when people tell me that my yoga practice is nice, but that I need to use weights. When you are doing yoga, you often use your arms to lift your entire body. That's a lot more than I can do at the gym! As always, the outfit is casual chic and very Audrey Hepburn.

  11. Looking good there Janet, cute outfit! Now how many women our age can wear a shirt tied at the waist?? You definitely are one of the them. :) After searching forever I finally found a pair of skinny jeans at Banana Republic that don't give me muffin top AND are long enough. I've been wearing them to death.

What a score on that trench!! Wow.

  12. You look great, Janet! I love the jeans on you. It seemed we were happy to leave behind the high waisted jeans b/c they made our bums look bigger than necessary LOL. They used to call some of them 'mom' jeans. But these look hot on you and if they can hold in my muffin top I'd love to try them. No more plumber bum. Great score on the trench!

  13. Looks great on you with those narrow hips, lucky you! I never liked low-rise; they suit very few girls or women and made it hard for me to find any pants at all with my shape.

Mind you, I don't get sizing - on the one hand the smallest size of those jeans available is for a 36" hip (so what do the slim girls do with 34" hips who are so keen on size 00...?!) so that means they are vanity sized to the extreme :o And yet I still wouldn't get a pair to fit because in this case, I seem to be "outsize". It's a crazy sizing world out there. Did you know a 50s size 8 is today's size 00, btw?!

  14. I also wonder how you feel about buying Burberry when they are so famous for their leather goods, what with your new vegan clothing ethic?

  23. About the time you were buying the JCrew trench, I happened upon a Burberry trench at Goodwill (not quite the deal you had, but...) in my size and the longer length. It feels ever so Casablanca. I almost wrote to suggest that JCrew was nowhere near as iconic as the vintage Burberry but thought better of it. Seems like you came to the same conclusion! the colour is quite the perfect shade of camel and the style timeless as it defines trench. Much preferable to the overpriced new stuff they sell. May it be a source of joy and comfort on a cool or rainy day.

  24. Your blog is so enjoyable and inspirational. Those jeans look great on you. Where in the world did you find them and what is the brand name? Your garden looks nice too. I've been sporadically reading your blog over the last few years and really find it interesting.
